Deliverables:
How Mediclaim Works
01/
You Pay Premiums
You pay an annual fee to the insurance provider to keep your policy active and secure your coverage
02/
Hospitalization Triggers Cover
If you get sick or have an accident that requires you to be admitted to a hospital for a minimum of 24 hours, the policy kicks in
03/
Cashless Treatment
At a network hospital, the insurer settles the bill directly with the facility. You do not pay out of pocket for covered medical expenses
04/
Reimbursement
If treated at a non-network hospital, you pay the bills yourself first, submit the original documents, and the insurer refunds the money

Framework
How Mediclaim Works
In-patient Hospitalization
Covers core medical costs including room rent, ICU charges, doctor and surgeon fees, nursing charges, and OT expenses
Pre and Post-Hospitalization
Includes medical expenses incurred a few days before hospital admission (like diagnostics) and a set number of days after discharge
Daycare Procedures
Covers modern treatments that take less than 24 hours due to advanced medical technology, such as cataract surgery or dialysis
Road Ambulance Charges
Provides financial coverage for the cost of transporting the patient to the hospital during a medical emergency
Waiting Periods
Claims cannot be made for pre-existing illnesses from day one. There is usually a standard waiting period of 2 to 4 years for these diseases
Room Rent Caps & Co-payment
Policies may restrict room rent to 1% of the Sum Insured per day, or require you to pay a fixed percentage (e.g., 10%) of the total claim amount
Financial planning is not a one-time decision. It’s a lifelong conversation.
